1. Trim the Wick: Before lighting your soy candle, trim the wick to approximately 1/4 inch (about 6mm). This helps to prevent excessive smoke and ensures a clean, even burn.
2. The First Burn: When lighting your candle for the first time, allow it to burn until the entire surface has melted into a pool of wax. This can take a few hours depending on the candle's size. This prevents tunnelling and ensures an even burn in the future.
3. Avoid Drafts: Ensure that your candle is placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from drafts. Drafts can cause uneven burning and may even extinguish the flame.
4. Burn Responsibly: Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep it out of reach of children and pets. Make sure it's placed on a flat, secure surface.
5. Keep It Clean: If you notice any soot buildup on the inside of the container, extinguish the candle, let it cool, and wipe the inside of the jar with a clean, damp cloth.
